Brand Identity
A new regional airline for the Midwest.

Design Ethos
SkyWisp is a fictional regional airline that operates in the greater Midwestern United States. With its all-new fleet of Airbus A320s, SkyWisp provides non-stop service to leading destinations in the region. Based out of Des Moines, Iowa, the airline has a world-class ground operations team that maintains an MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) hub in the city.
Designing an identity for SkyWisp was anchored by three major themes: the connection the airline had to Iowa and the greater Midwest, a modern and clean-sheet logo, and a highly accessible and tailored product experience that is inclusive of Midwestern culture. Given my work in developing and identity for Vimjet, this was a great way to expand upon my work in aviation-design.
The brand identity that was created for SkyWisp is bold, readable, and very emblematic of the customer and region. The logomark utilizes a shaping style that evokes a grain of wheat, placed together in the shape of an airplane. This shape becomes a major visual anchor to the agriculture industry that the rural Midwest is known for. The logotype uses Sora by Jonathan Barnbrook, and is both incredibly readable across print and digital settings, but above all, modern and clean. Together, the logomark and logotype produce an incredible brand for SkyWisp. The color palette furthers this look, with a dark green symbolizing the agriculture industry and a golden yellow to symbolize wheat and corn, two major crops grown in Iowa, the airline’s home.
From a design perspective, great care was taken to avoid the airline’s confusion with Frontier airlines, which utilizes a similar green background in their brand identity. Additionally, the color contrast created by the green, yellow, and off-grey create a multitude of creative pairings for the airline that maintain readability. A specific set of products that were developed for this brand identity include a Snack Mix, Choco Drops, and a sustainable version of Bottled Water.
A created tagline for the airline, "Big Skies, Bigger Dreams," perfectly embodies the spirit of the Midwest and SkyWisp's commitment to providing a world-class flying experience to its customers. It reflects the limitless potential and optimism that characterizes the region and encourages passengers to dream big. This tagline is the cornerstone of SkyWisp's brand identity and conveys the airline's dedication to excellence, innovation, and customer satisfaction.
