Designing Bold Brand Identities for SkyWisp and Flox Genetics.
April 2nd, 2023
As a designer, expanding one's portfolio across different industries is crucial for personal growth and innovation. Recently, I had the privilege of working on two unique projects: SkyWisp, a fictional Midwestern regional airline, and Flox Genetics, a fictional cutting-edge genetics research firm in Tacoma, Washington.
SkyWisp's challenge was to create a brand identity embodying the connection to the Midwest, incorporating a modern logo, and reflecting the region's culture. I crafted a design featuring a wheat grain airplane logomark, paying homage to the Midwest's agricultural roots. A modern and readable logotype, along with a color palette inspired by Iowa's agriculture, solidified the brand's identity. The tagline, "Big Skies, Bigger Dreams," encapsulates SkyWisp's commitment to a world-class flying experience.
For Flox Genetics, the goal was to project professionalism while maintaining a vibrant and modern aesthetic. The design includes a traditional mono-space typography and a logomark representing intertwined chromosomes, highlighting the company's medical focus. A color palette inspired by Tacoma's picturesque lakes and the researchers' creativity ensures visual appeal.
These projects allowed me to create bold, engaging brand identities tailored to each company's unique values and industries. This experience has fueled my passion for design and honed my ability to craft compelling visuals for diverse audiences.
