A Year In Design
December 28th, 2023
Hey there,
As the year draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey 2023 has been. The past twelve months have been a whirlwind of creativity, challenges, and growth, marking an another chapter in my amateur design career.
This year, my portfolio has expanded more slowly, showcasing a deeper attention to detail amid a wider diversity of projects beyond the software realm. Each design I've crafted tells a unique story, reflecting not just my skills but also my passion for different technologies and industries that I find interesting. Looking back, my personal highlight was undoubtedly the complete redesign of this portfolio, a project that enhanced the user experience without compromising its functionality.
Stelar Fusion, a Kent, WA-based fusion company, is the most ambitious of my recent endeavors. This project forced me to exercise my creative brain after almost three months of little design work. Crafting the brand identity for Stelar Fusion, inspired by celestial elements and the intricacies of a stellarator, was thus a challenging experience that pushed my creative boundaries.
In addition to Stelar Fusion, I've had the pleasure of working on two other significant projects: SkyWisp and Flox Genetics. SkyWisp, a fictional Midwestern airline, and Flox Genetics, a pioneering genetics research firm, allowed me to delve into diverse industries, each requiring a unique aesthetic and conceptual approach.
As I look ahead, I'm excited to announce one final project set to launch in early January 2024, a culmination of this past year's learning. Following this, I’ll be taking a three-month hiatus from design to prepare for graduate school admissions. This break will not only give me time to focus on my academic goals but also to step back and find fresh inspiration.
Thank you for being a part of my journey.
Best,
RISH
